We founded the Önálló Léptekért Alapítvány (Independent Steps Foundation) as an affected family ourselves.

We know exactly how much strength, perseverance, uncertainty, and hope this journey takes. We know what it is like when every small step forward in a child's development has to be fought for, day after day.

We work to give real help to children living with cerebral palsy (CP) and their families.

On this page, we are now raising funds for Áron's surgery and rehabilitation.

Meet Áron

If you meet Áron, the first thing you will probably notice is his sparkling eyes and his smile.

He adores music, nursery rhymes, and all kinds of sounds. Although he does not speak in words, he communicates a great deal. With his gaze, his expressions, and his smile, he can say things that only those closest to him truly understand. His therapists and teachers describe him as a wonderfully lovable, cooperative little boy who is open to the world and seizes every opportunity to grow.

What are we raising funds for?

The Nazarov surgery in Barcelona is a specialized procedure on the connective tissue that helps increase Áron's range of motion, reduce muscle tightness, and support the development of healthier movement patterns.

• Easier movement — Moving becomes easier for him, and tightness is reduced.
• Better posture — His posture improves, and more favorable patterns can develop.
• Lower risk of contractures — The chance of restricted movements becoming permanently fixed is reduced.
• Room to grow — He gains a new opportunity to develop and move toward independence.

Alongside this, one of the most important pillars of Áron's development is regular, intensive therapy, which supports his movement, posture, and functional abilities.

Why does it matter?

His journey did not begin easily. At birth, Áron suffered severe oxygen deprivation, which caused permanent brain damage.

He was later diagnosed with cerebral palsy (CP), epilepsy, and visual impairment. From the very beginning, his everyday life has been filled with developmental sessions, therapies, medical examinations, and countless hours of practice.

While other children learn to sit, stand, or walk naturally, Áron has to work for a long time for every new movement.

Sometimes the greatest victory is a steadier sitting position, a more deliberate movement, or a longer moment of eye contact.

For many years now, the family's life has revolved around developmental work, therapies, and practice.
